Pregnant women require more nutrition during the pregnancy to the well-being of themselves and their babies. Let me at Tangling Ops to uncover some healthy pregnancy diet and care tips that every woman should know about pregnancy period.
1. Oh! It’s Complicated
Your first few weeks of the pregnancy period easily makes eating the last thing in your list, but you know healthy eating during pregnancy is important and unavoidable at the same time. Yep! You’ve to think about the nutrition required for the baby’s growth.
If you’re feeling it is very uncomfortable to eat, you could try at least taking your favorite fruits, soups, smoothies or king coconut water, which is a very nutritious drink native to Sri Lanka.
2. I’ve Got Crazy Desires
Meanwhile, there’s your unusual and usual food cravings.
I said that because you might feel an increased appetite for foods that you never loved or it can be the other way around. Whatever happens, it’s good to eat the foods that you crave.
There’s also a pregnancy myth that ignoring those food cravings can affect the baby.
Maybe it’s true or maybe not, but as a woman who’s going to be a mother very soon, you should keep a happy and stress-free lifestyle. So instead of settling for tension, eat them!
However, do your due diligence before eating any food during pregnancy. Just because you’ve got a food craving doesn’t mean it’s a healthy food. It could be harmful to you or your baby.
If that’s the case, realize why you can’t eat it and move on.
Sometimes, you might not be able to defeat the food craving yourself alone, so talk to your husband and family members for help.
3. Fresh Natural Nutritional Meals
Love the feeling of freshness? Who doesn’t, right? Always aim for fresh,
- Fruits
- Vegetables
- Green leaves
- Meat
- Fish
- Sprats
Say no for processed or canned food and avoid any foods grown using pesticide, weedicide or other inorganic fertilizer, if possible as such food doesn’t belong a place in a healthy pregnancy diet. Having 2-3 eggs every week is very nutritious for you and the one who’s coming.
You might prefer to be someone who doesn’t eat any meat or that sort of meals. If so, you can avoid eating eggs while substituting that with vegetables, rice, green leaves etc. If you’ve been wondering,
Uhm! What to eat when pregnant?
There’s your answer. Now don’t be the one who knows, but ignore using what one knows. Go buy them now!
4. You . Milky Way . Tour
Milk is good for everybody. Drink 2 glasses of milk everyday. If you’re into Curd, Yogurt line of milk products, they are good too.
5. The Calm & Clean
In this pregnancy period, you need to concentrate on reducing constipation and stress levels as well as helping your body to digest and absorb nutrition through better hydration. Enjoying the taste of fruits after each meal is a good way to promote better digestion. Not so hard to follow pregnancy care tips. Right?
6. Hiya! Stuffing Food?
Some people believe that you have to eat for two people, but you know what, don’t do that. It only makes you uglier and fatter, not the type of words you want to even think. Sure, you do need more nutrition during pregnancy, but not that way.
Instead of loading a ton of food, simply increase the amount of food that you’ve been taking even before the pregnancy, a bit more. Like 2-3 more table spoons.
You probably have been taking 3 main meals a day before the pregnancy, now is the time to add 2 more meals to that list. Let’s put these 2 additional meals at 10AM and 4PM. This can be something small, but filled with nutrition.
Remember what you need is a healthy pregnancy diet, not stuffing foods in your stomach in a single round.
7. Then There Is Clinic …
Your clinic also offer you free nutritious meals such as Triposha which is often given in Sri Lanka. Consume these meals as they provide a lot more nutrition intake you need as a pregnant woman.
Sharing meals with friends and family is quite common in Asian countries, however, never share the Triposha meals with them. Clinic only provide enough Triposha (2 pkts) to supply the nutrition intake needed for the whole month. Now don’t settle yourself only for Triposha completely. Okay?
8. Body ‘ Mass ‘ Index
BMI is another important thing to keep tabs throughout your pregnancy period. As soon as you notice the BMI hits below 18, consume more flour and oil rich meals. Wondering why? Well, that’s because your BMI should be higher than 18 for you to be strong enough to hold your tummy.
When you have a BMI of 25 or above, you can switch from taking extra flour, oil rich meals to vegetables, fruits and other nutritious food.
Being over-weight should be one of the last things in your list during pregnancy, because it can be the cause of other unfavorable complexities. That’s why you’ve to think about your BMI and body weight while deciding what to eat during pregnancy.
9. Boiled & Purified Water
You can avoid waterborne diseases which spread through water by drinking boiled water after filtering unwanted substances using a water purifier.
Again the loss of appetite can affect your water consumption. However, drinking water is more important than your giving the power to your reluctance.
10. Essential Pregnancy Vitamins
Another too important fact is taking the pregnancy vitamins given by your VOG or the clinic properly. Take 1 Ferus (Iron) pill and 1 Vitamin C pill at night. Then 1 Calcium pill in the morning.
I’m saying it’s TOO important, thanks to the consequences of not doing so myself.
You need these Vitamins throughout your pregnancy as well as till it’s 6 months for the baby, since you have to feed breast milk for the first 6 months.
Be aware that it’s hard for your body to absorb Iron, if you were to take both Ferus & Calcium pills at once. Guess now you know why those 2 pills are taken at two different times …
11. Gastritis, The Legendary Mode
Pregnant women with gastritis can feel worse with the loss of appetite. Making your VOG aware of this can make things easy for you.
Don’t worry, VOG will prescribe you a drug which will be least affected to your baby.
12. Someone is Right! Caffeine Sucks
Avoid taking coffee and tea 1 hour before or after your main meals, unless you want to interfere with Vitamin absorption.
